Renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly made a heartfelt gesture by gifting his cherished Juhu bungalow, ‘Prateeksha,’ to his daughter, Shweta Bachchan. Prateeksha holds a special place in the actor’s heart, serving as his first home in Juhu where he resided with his parents, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. It’s worth noting that Amitabh also owns two other bungalows in Mumbai, namely Jalsa and Janak.
The bungalow, valued at approximately Rs 50.63 crore, underwent a significant ownership transfer facilitated through two separate gift deeds on November 8. The official completion of this transaction was marked by a stamp duty payment of Rs 50.65 lakh, as reported by Money Control.
Prateeksha carries sentimental significance for the Bachchan family, with its name bestowed by Amitabh’s father. The actor shared a glimpse into the naming process in his blog, recalling, “Babuji saw the house as we invited him and Maa ji to now live with us and named it .. Prateeksha.” The name itself holds familial history, originating from a line in one of his father’s works: “Swagat sabke liye yaha par, nahi kisi ke liye prateeksha” – translating to “Welcome there is for all in this abode, but we are not waiting for anyone.”
Amitabh fondly reminisced about the family’s time in Prateeksha during the early years of his career. The house witnessed the growth of his children and grandchildren, becoming a backdrop for various celebrations, including birthdays and festive occasions. Notably, it also played a significant role as the venue for the weddings of the next generation, standing as a guardian above them.
