Renowned actor Rio Kapadia, his contributions to Indian cinema in films like “Chak De India,” “Dil Chahta Hai,” and “Mardaani,” has passed away at the age of 66. His demise occurred in September, with the news confirmed by his close friend, Faisal Malik, as reported by India Today. Rio is survived by his wife, Maria Farah, and their children, Aman and Veer.
Rio has been a part of various films including ‘Khuda Haafiz ‘, ‘The Big Bull’, ‘Agent Vinod’ and more. He was recently seen in one of the episodes of ‘Made in Heaven 2.’ Other than films, the actor was also a prominent face on television where he acted in shows like ‘Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke and ‘Siddharth Tewary’s ‘Mahabharat’ where he played the role of Gandhari’s Father, King Subala of Gandhara.
In addition to his film roles, Rio Kapadia was also recognized for his appearance on the television series “Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke,” where he portrayed the character of King Subala of Gandhara, Gandhari’s father, in Siddharth Tewary’s adaptation of the epic Mahabharata.
Rio was an advocate for actor’s rights within the television industry and encouraged fellow actors to support one another. In 2012, when he was replaced by another actor for a significant role in a show, he spoke out about the challenges faced by actors in the industry.
During an interview Rio expressed his views, stating, “I don’t belong to any particular group; I have been brought up with different values in life. It’s a challenging situation for any actor to find themselves in, and many in the industry have faced this issue.
The cremation ceremony for the late actor, Rio Kapadia, is scheduled to take place on September 15 at the Shiv Dham Shamshan Bhumi in Goregaon. The exact cause of his death has not been disclosed. Social media has been flooded with tributes and condolences for the beloved actor.
