Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, an adored actor who has reigned over the industry for many years, has an inspiring journey in the world of entertainment. Starting with television, he eventually made a big name for himself in Bollywood. Shah Rukh has captivated countless hearts with his talent and unwavering dedication throughout his career. Recently, the film Maya Memsaab, in which he starred, reached a significant milestone of 30 years. To commemorate this special occasion, director Ketan Mehta shared intriguing anecdotes about the film, highlighting Shah Rukh’s professionalism.
During a recent interview, the director revealed that Maya Memsaab was the first film Shah Rukh Khan shot for, although his theatrical debut came with Deewana in 1992. Maya Memsaab, co-starring Deepa Sahi, Farooq Shaikh, and Raj Babbar, was released after films like Deewana, Chamatkar, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, and Dil Aashna Hai. During the conversation, Mehta commended SRK’s professionalism and recounted how the actor showed up to shoot for the film in Shimla despite his mother being in critical condition.
Ketan expressed his admiration, saying, “Hats off to Shah Rukh Khan. His mother was in a critical situation at that time. The entire crew had already reached Shimla, and he didn’t want to delay the shoot. He arrived, and I am grateful for his positive energy.” Shah Rukh’s mother passed away in 1991. Ketan also shared how he came to cast the superstar in the film. He mentioned that Aziz Mirza and Saeed Mirza, who had worked with SRK on the television show Circus, recommended his name.
Mehta added, “We were searching for a newcomer, and when Shah Rukh came, I realized his energy was simply infectious. We instantly developed a liking for him and decided to cast him. The snowstorm scene was the first one we shot. In a debut film, any actor would give their best, and Shah Rukh was brimming with energy and a strong desire to prove himself. He brought a positive energy to the entire shoot.”
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently occupied with his upcoming film, Jawan, directed by Atlee. The movie also features Sanya Malhotra and Nayanthara in important roles and is set to release on September 7. Additionally, he has Dunki alongside Taapsee Pannu, a film directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
