Actress Amruta Subhash recently shared her experience of shooting a sex scene with director Anurag Kashyap for Season 2 of the popular Netflix series Sacred Games. She praised Anurag for his considerate handling of the scene and revealed that he even inquired about her menstrual cycle before scheduling the shoot. In a conversation with Netflix alongside co-stars Neena Gupta and Tillotama Shome, Amruta expressed her appreciation for Anurag’s sensitivity and understanding.
Amruta, known for her portrayal of RAW agent Kusum Devi Yadav in Sacred Games, spoke about her willingness to take on diverse roles and experiment with her acting career. She recounted how she met Vikramaditya Motwane and Varun Grover, the creators of the show, after cutting her hair short for another project. Following a call from their casting director, Amruta auditioned for the role of KDY and received valuable advice from her husband, actor-director Sandesh Kulkarni, who emphasized the importance of underplaying the character and not attempting to be overly heroic. She successfully landed the role, which was originally male in the book but was adapted as a female character for the show.
In addition to her work in Sacred Games, Amruta appears in a segment of Netflix’s Lust Stories 2, directed by Konkona Sen Sharma. Her part features Tillotama Shome as her employer, and the segment has been widely acclaimed as the standout portion of the film.
Amruta’s candid discussion about her experiences highlights the importance of sensitivity and open communication on set, fostering a positive and respectful work environment for all actors involved.
