The highly anticipated film ‘Adipurush,’ the latest adaptation of the epic ‘Ramayana,’ has created a lot of buzz. Now, rumors are circulating about yet another high-profile adaptation of India’s greatest epic, stirring conversations among people.
Reports state that Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Yash, renowned for his role in ‘KGF,’ will portray the characters of Ram, Sita, and Ravan, respectively, in this new adaptation of ‘Ramayana.’ Nitesh Tiwari will direct the film, while Allu Arvind and Madhu Mantena will serve as producers. The filming of the movie is anticipated to commence in December 2023 or January 2024.
Earlier, there were reports that the project was put on hold due to the lack of suitable candidates for the role of the primary antagonist, the demon king Ravana. However, recent reports suggest that the producers have managed to get a positive response from Yash, and they are now moving forward with the project. Although Yash is yet to sign the contract, the producers are confident in his involvement.
As news of this new ‘Ramayana’ adaptation spread on Twitter, it garnered mixed reactions from netizens. Fans of Ranbir and Alia expressed their excitement, while some remained skeptical, considering it a ploy to undermine the success of ‘Adipurush.’ Fans of Yash, on the other hand, were confident that the ‘Mr & Mrs. Ramachari’ star would not disappoint them.
An Alia Bhatt fan page shared a montage of her scenes from the 2022 blockbuster ‘RRR’ and praised her as the perfect choice for the role of Maa Sita. They expressed their anticipation, mentioning her height, looks, and innocence as ideal qualities for the character. It’s worth noting that Bhatt’s character in ‘RRR’ was also named Sita.
Another fan wrote, “Ranbir has that never-ending charm. Alia has that glowing beauty, Yash has that furious screen presence, Nitesh knows his business, DNEG is ready to present the visual extravaganza, and the world loves MYTHOLOGY,” expressing their excitement for the film.
Meanwhile, a Prabhas fan on Twitter commented, “So, all this negativity around #Adipurush…now I’m getting the source of the paid propaganda, why all bullies are spreading negativity,” implying that the news of the new ‘Ramayana’ adaptation may be an attempt to divert attention from ‘Adipurush.’
‘Adipurush,’ starring Prabhas as Raghav (Lord Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki/Sita, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh/Ravan, is set to release in theaters on June 16.
