Nawazuddin Siddiqui, known for his roles in various films, is set to star in the romantic comedy-drama “Tiku Weds Sheru” directed by Sai Kabir Srivastava. Produced by Kangana Ranaut‘s Manikarnika Films, the movie is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on June 23. The trailer for the film was launched at a recent event in Mumbai.
In the film, Siddiqui portrays the character of Sheru, a struggling individual with big dreams in the Mumbai film industry. While he boasts about his involvement in 44 films, it turns out that he was actually a financier for them. As per his family’s arrangement, he gets married to Tiku, an aspiring actress played by Avneet Kaur, who hails from Bhopal. Tiku sees her marriage to Sheru as an opportunity to escape to Mumbai and pursue her dreams.
After arriving in the city, Tiku and Sheru embark on a romantic journey while trying their luck in the film industry. However, Sheru’s financial troubles and encounters with local criminals pose challenges for them. The trailer hints at Tiku running away from goons, leaving Sheru confused and distressed.
This isn’t the first time Siddiqui has portrayed a struggling character in Bollywood. He previously played a hard-up screenwriter in the film “Ghoomketu” (2020). His most recent release, “Jogira Sara Ra Ra,” also revolved around a comedic take on marriage.
Speaking about “Tiku Weds Sheru,” Siddiqui expressed his excitement, stating that the film is a comedy-drama that incorporates real-life struggles alongside a unique love story. He mentioned that Tiku and Sheru are distinct personalities who share a common dream. Siddiqui was particularly drawn to the character of Sheru as he personifies the challenges faced by individuals aspiring for success in the entertainment industry while remaining relatable and endearing with his own quirks.
