Manisha Koirala has experience working in a variety of languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. For her outstanding accomplishments in her acting career, she has won several awards. Her contributions to the south Indian cinema industry include the movies Bombay (1995), Indian (1996), and Mudhalvan (1999). Her career in the south was abruptly interrupted by Rajinikanth’s dismal Tamil film Baba, she recently confessed.
Manisha discussed her career in the south and how the 2002 movie Baba affected it in a recent interview. Baba was perhaps my final major Tamil film. In those days, it was a complete failure. Such a terrible calamity, it was. There were high hopes for the movie, so when it bombed, I believed that my career in south Asian cinema was effectively over. I was getting many south videos before Baba. I stopped receiving proposals when Baba failed, she claimed in a video clip.
It’s interesting to note that Suresh Krissna’s film Baba, which was re-released in theaters on Rajinikanth’s birthday last year, did well at the box office. Manisha expressed her happiness that Baba become popular again after 20 years.
“Strangely, the film turned out to be a hit when it was re-released which is unheard of. Rajini sir can never give a flop. He is such a kind man to work with,” she said.
In terms of her professional life, Manisha most recently appeared in Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada. She will soon be featured in the online series Heeramandi by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
