In the latest twist in the Mahadev betting app saga, actress Tamannaah Bhatia has been summoned by Maharashtra’s cyber cell. She’s called in connection with her promotion of Fairplay, a sister app of the controversial Mahadev betting platform. The actress is requested to appear on April 29 for questioning regarding the illegal streaming of last year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) on the Fairplay app. This streaming allegedly caused significant losses to Viacom.
Actor Sanjay Dutt was also summoned earlier on April 23 but couldn’t attend due to being out of the country. He has requested the cyber cell to provide him with the next date and time for recording his statement.
In a related development earlier this year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) made its ninth arrest as part of the money laundering investigation into the alleged illegal activities of the Mahadev online gaming and betting application. Politicians and bureaucrats from Chhattisgarh are purportedly involved in this case.
In December last year, Dubai Police detained Ravi Uppal, one of the prime accused in the Mahadev online betting app case. Uppal was apprehended based on a red notice issued by Interpol at the request of the ED.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Tamannaah was last seen in the Malayalam-language action drama “Bandra” alongside Dino Morea and Dileep. She has several significant projects lined up, including “Aranmanai 4,” co-starring Sundar C and Raashii Khanna, set to release on May 3.
Additionally, Tamannaah Bhatia is set to feature in the John Abraham-starrer “Vedaa,” slated for a July release, which also stars Sharvari Wagh. She also has “Stree 2” and “Odela 2,” directed by Ashok Teja, in her upcoming projects list.
