The trailer expands on the teaser released the previous month and showcases Vicky Kaushal breathing life into every aspect of India’s first Field Marshal. He delivers stirring speeches to his fellow soldiers while holding his own against prominent figures, including the then-Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The film is set in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
‘Sam Bahadur’ is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 1 and is written by Bhavani Iyer, Shantanu Shrivastava, and Meghna Gulzar. The film was shot in various locations, including Punjab, Kashmir, and Delhi, and is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies, the same production house behind Vicky’s blockbuster ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ (2019). ‘Sam Bahadur’ will go head-to-head with ‘Animal,’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, at the box office.
The film ‘Sam Bahadur’ is a biographical portrayal of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw. His distinguished military career spanned over four decades and included service in five wars. He holds the distinction of being the first Indian Army officer promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and led India to victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh. The movie also features Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick, Richard Bhakti Klein, Saqib Ayub, and Krishna Kant Singh Bundela in significant roles.
