It is never too late to admit, accept, and apologies for your flaws. Accepting responsibility for every wrongdoing and harm done requires a great deal of courage and effort. However, movies have long served as a source of inspiration for both children and adults, and they have been used to teach the public social lessons such as the importance of saying sorry and moving on.
Let us recall five of Bollywood’s most memorable and classic apologies that warmed our hearts and eyes:
Chak De India
Not all apologies must be expressed verbally; some can be expressed through gestures. When the country’s men’s national field hockey team was forbidden from competition due to religious bias, the entire world labelled Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) a coward.
So much so that a young boy scribbled “Gaddar” outside his house. However, after coaching a women’s team and winning the world championship, he regains his lost pride. As the same child eventually wiped away what he had previously written on the wall, our hearts swelled with joy.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Without a doubt, this film made to laugh as well as cry. Young Kabir, also known as Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor), defies his parents and wishes to travel the world. Sanjay (Farooq Shaikh), like most of our fathers, continued to show his love for him by waiting for him late at night or by purchasing a bag for a hiking trip.
He assures him that he will always be by his side and that he is free to go and do whatever he wants. The young man realises his mistake and approaches his stepmother for an apology. He is distraught over missing his father’s funeral.
Wake Up Sid
Sometimes, we continue to harm the people we care about without realising it, and this is exactly what Siddharth (Ranbir Kapoor) does. He continues to ignore his parents, especially his mother, Sarita (Supriya Pathak), who has dedicated her life to him. He continues to hurt her by pleading with her not to interfere in his personal life and even leaving the house after an argument. He does, however, pay her mother a surprise visit one day, kissing her hand and viewing old photo albums with her. When he was a child, his parents’ lives revolved around him, and now it was his turn.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
With each of the moments and characters, the film offered us a tone of memories and is still one of the most recognised films of all time. Even though Arjun (Hrithik Roshan) and Imraan (Farhan Akhtar) had disagreements, they never voiced them. It only took one argument to release their emotions. When the former meets his estranged father, his perspective on life changes. He then decides to accept his long-ago mistake, apologise, and hug his friend wholeheartedly.
Dil Chahta Hai
You had some major friendship goals after watching this movie, from planning road trip plans to developing an unbreakable bond with our friends. Our hearts were broken when Akash (Aamir Khan) and Siddharth (Akshaye Khanna) fought and split up. However, after going through a difficult period in his own life, the former realised his error and apologised profusely to the latter. They remained united in the end, as they always had, which warmed our hearts.
