In a recent development, actor Sahil Khan was apprehended by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch from Chattisgarh on Sunday morning. This action follows the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by the Bombay High Court in connection with the Mahadev betting app case.
Khan, aged 47, was previously questioned by the police regarding his involvement with the Mahadev betting app. The application, allegedly facilitating illegal gambling activities across various sports and games including poker, card games, badminton, tennis, football, and cricket, has come under intense scrutiny.
The investigation undertaken by the crime branch delves into purported unlawful transactions linking certain financial and real estate firms within the state to the promoters of the Mahadev betting app. The magnitude of the alleged scam is staggering, with the FIR lodged by the police estimating it to be around Rs 15,000 crore.
Thirty-one individuals, including Khan, are currently under investigation, with authorities scrutinizing their bank accounts, mobile devices, laptops, and other technical paraphernalia.
Sahil Khan, known for his roles in films such as “Style” (2001) and “Xcuse Me” (2003), has also established himself as a fitness expert, boasting a substantial following on his YouTube channel, which has amassed over 2.8 million subscribers.
