Akshay Kumar recently provided an update on his upcoming film “OMG 2” by sharing a new poster on Instagram and announcing the release date. The movie is set to hit theaters on August 11 of this year. The poster, which showcases Akshay Kumar in a never-seen-before look inspired by Lord Shiva, has already gone viral within just an hour of its release. In his post, Kumar invited his fans by stating, “We are coming, and you are also invited. August 11. In theaters. #OMG2.”
It is worth mentioning that “OMG 2” will face competition at the box office as it clashes with the releases of Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal” and Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2,” both also scheduled for August 11.
Singer B Praak, who has collaborated with Akshay Kumar several times, reacted to the post by dropping red heart and fiery icons in the comments section.
“OMG 2” was initially announced by Akshay Kumar and the film’s makers in October 2021. At that time, Kumar shared two posters with a caption seeking blessings and well-wishes for the film. He described it as an honest and humble attempt to shed light on an important social issue, seeking the blessings of the eternal energy of Adiyogi. The first installment of the film, “OMG – Oh My God,” released in 2012 and starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. It tells the story of Kanji Lalji Mehta (played by Paresh Rawal) who files a case against God for the destruction of his shop in an earthquake. The film also featured Mithun Chakraborty, Govind Namdev, and the late actor Om Puri in special roles.
In addition to Akshay Kumar, “OMG 2” will include Yami Gautam, Pankaj Tripathi, and Arun Govil in pivotal roles. The sequel is written and directed by Amit Rai.
