In a recent interview, Bollywood actress Kajol shared some amusing and behind-the-scenes details about the famous Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) poster, featuring herself and Shah Rukh Khan. The poster, which has become an iconic symbol of their chemistry, shows Shah Rukh lifting a smiling Kajol on his shoulder.
Kajol revealed that during the photoshoot for the poster, she couldn’t help but worry about Shah Rukh’s well-being. She confessed, “One thing that comes to my mind is how I got into that position, by the way. Ek toh bechara Shah Rukh kandhe pe uthaake… mujhe itna bura lag raha tha uske liye, itna bura lag raha tha (Poor Shah Rukh was standing with me on his shoulder, and I was feeling so bad for him). I was like, ‘Are you sure you can do this?’ He said, ‘Don’t worry, I am strong.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, but you have to carry me on your shoulder. Will you be able to?'”
Despite Kajol’s concerns, Shah Rukh took it up as a challenge and assured her that he could handle it. He effortlessly lifted her without making her feel heavy at all. However, Kajol mentioned that after the shoot, Shah Rukh experienced a frozen shoulder, indicating the tremendous effort he put into the pose.
Reflecting on the experience, Kajol shared, “I was really worried about him. I think he took a hit onto his masculinity that ‘How can you say that to me? I am a guy.’ He very sweetly carried me and didn’t make me feel heavy at all… Later, there was a frozen shoulder. Us waqt tha ‘wow’ (that time it was wow).”
Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan have collaborated on several successful films, and their on-screen chemistry is adored by fans. Apart from DDLJ, they have worked together in movies like Baazigar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, My Name is Khan, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Dilwale.
On the professional front, Kajol recently made her debut in the digital space with the web show “The Trial.” Fans are eagerly anticipating her upcoming project alongside Kriti Sanon, titled “Do Patti.”
The DDLJ poster, with Shah Rukh Khan lifting Kajol on his shoulder, remains an evergreen symbol of their timeless romance and continues to adorn the walls of Bollywood enthusiasts even today.
