Sushmita Sen, a former Miss Universe who has become an actor, had a severe heart attack earlier this year. When she needed to have an angioplasty and have a stent put in her heart, she was aiming for Aarya 3. The actor had taken to social media to inform fans about the same, and also spoke about getting to work soon after.
Now, in an interview, Sushmita shared that she feels ‘lucky’ to be on the other side. She added that the health scare has made her value life more. “It was a phase and it passed. I am very lucky to be on the other side,” she told. The Main Hoon Na actor added that it has made her more responsible and she has now learnt to value life more. She said, “It doesn’t make me fearful now, instead I now have a feeling of promise, of something to look forward to. When you get a new lease on life, you respect it and are more careful.”
The actor’s upcoming project after Aarya 3 is Taali. Based on the life of transgender rights advocate Shreegauri Sawant, the Jio Cinema original. The actor claimed that Taali is her way of “paying an ode to the struggles and triumphs” of Shreegauri in the same interview.
The actor said, “It was very empowering. And I am hoping that the honesty with which I have tried to portray the story of Gauri Sawant’s life, that honesty comes through, because it’s a tribute more than a performance, not just to her but to the whole community.” In March this year, actor revealed that she had an angioplasty done and has got a stent put in her heart. Sharing a picture with her father, Sushmita wrote on Instagram, “Keep your heart happy & courageous, and it’ll stand by you when you need it the most Shona” (Wise words by my father Subir Sen) I suffered a heart attack a couple of days back…Angioplasty done…stent in place…and most importantly, my cardiologist reconfirmed ‘I do have a big heart’.”
