Kiara, Rohit Roy’s daughter, has been concerned ever since he received a call from Khatron Ke Khiladi 13. When her father ultimately confided in her, she finally felt comforted and allowed him to go on location to film the action-adventure show. Her concerns were realised when Rohit got hurt while performing the task and had to return home. The actor said that while he hadn’t told her about it, Kiara had read about it from social media. “She cried buckets and was angry that she was right about it. In spite of all that, when she heard how I had performed on the show, she was really proud. Now I am waiting for her to see me on screen,” he told in a interview.
Given that Rohit Roy and his wife Manasi Joshi Roy are both actresses, we worried whether their daughter will follow in their lines. He said they had no issues to her entering the industry, but given she’s in an Ivy College, education remains her priority. However, he added that more than a year back, she was noticed at an event and was even offered The Archies.
“About a year and a half back, I was at a fashion event hosted by Shabana Azmi. There was a great amount of media and paps and of course many stars. Later, Excel called me for The Archies. I told them that she is studying at the Brown University but I will check. I did tell her but she couldn’t give it a thought given the space she is in, where competition is intense. I have told her that once you finish your education and want to give it a thought, we would wholly support you,” Roy shared.
An movie based on well-known comic book characters is being directed by Zoya Akhtar. Suhana Khan of Shah Rukh Khan, Khushi Kapoor of Boney Kapoor, and Agastya Nanda of Amitabh Bachchan will all make their acting debuts at the Archies. Rohit Roy is also a writer and director.
The actor went on to say, “I think it’s one of the biggest mistakes of filmmakers to direct their own kids. It’s the worst thing. I may produce for her but not direct her. The point also remains that she would want to be directed by Karan Johar more than me. But I will never helm her first film as I would not be able to push the envelope. It would be best if she’s directed by someone who works with her only as a creative collaborator. I think filmmakers should never launch their kids.”
