Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for his meticulous attention to detail in bringing his cinematic vision to life. However, the unpredictable Mumbai monsoon is threatening to cause delays in the filming of his latest project, Heeramandi. The director is currently in the last leg of shooting for the series, which features a star-studded cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Sharmin Segal. With just two months of work left, Bhansali is racing against time to finish the shoot before the rains hit the city in June.
Sources reveal that Bhansali is personally overseeing every aspect of the shoot, from lighting to costumes and performances, and has been coming to the set every day for the past two weeks. This is in contrast to late last year when he would assign work to one of his co-directors. The Netflix series marks Bhansali’s debut in digital entertainment and he is determined to wrap up the final stint at a breakneck speed.
Bhansali has also drawn up a contingency plan to prevent damage to his lavish set from the monsoon. The production team has instructed FWICE workers to start scaffolding in the first week of June, and all exterior shots have already been completed. The team is working long hours and filming multiple scenes a day to complete the interior scenes before the rains arrive.
despite the challenges posed by the monsoon, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s unwavering determination and meticulous planning are a testament to his commitment to bringing his cinematic vision to life.
