Bhumika Chawla, who recently made her comeback on the big screen with Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, spoke about getting replaced in Jab We Met, which made her feel very bad. In a recent interview, Bollywood actress Bhumika Chawla revealed that she was originally supposed to star in the 2007 hit film Jab We Met, which went on to become one of the most loved movies in Bollywood. The actress shared that she was initially cast opposite Bobby Deol and had already signed the film when she got replaced by Ayesha Takia. She further added that she eventually got paired opposite Shahid Kapoor, but was eventually replaced by Kareena Kapoor Khan as the lead actress.
Bhumika revealed that she had waited for Jab We Met for a year and did not sign any other film, but eventually had to move on. “That’s how the things happened. But it’s okay. I move on from such things very fast,” Bhumika said, adding that she had also signed Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Kannathil Muthamittal with Mani Ratnam but they did not happen. She also said that after the success of Tere Naam, she had gotten many offers but she was always selective about the projects.
Further into the conversation, Bhumika said that there is a shelf life for actresses in a commercial mass film even today. “Hero is still playing hero and the female lead has gone backward. The change will have to come from the industry. The audience can’t do that. If we change something, then the audience will accept it. If we don’t change it then how will they accept it?” she added.
