Malti Marie Jonas, the couple’s baby, was born prematurely and spent 100 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which was difficult for actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband Nick Jonas. Priyanka recently revealed that she has experienced the fear of losing her daughter many times and now fears that she won’t be able to get back to her for anything. The actor also recalled that after she took Malti home from the hospital, she woke up almost every two minutes.
Priyanka, who is busy with the promotions of her Amazon Prime Video series Citadel, said during an interview, “She’s got me wrapped around her finger. I don’t even know how I’ll ever discipline her because I just don’t have it in me. I was so close to losing her so many times that she can get away with anything, and I just want to see her happy.”

The actor had earlier revealed that Malti was born a trimester before the due date and thus was kept in the hospital. Nick and Priyanka had announced the birth of Malti after she was discharged from the hospital. On Mother’s Day last year, they wrote on Instagram, “After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home. Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is.”
However, now Malti is doing fine and Priyanka shared that her daughter is a ‘happy child’. She said, “She’s a super smiley, happy baby, and that’s all my goal is to see her joyous. Every time she smiles, it lights up my world, and that’s all I want to do.”
When Malti recovered, Priyanka and Nick brought her home but the new mother was still scared to leave her daughter alone. She shared, “In the NICU, you know your child is alive because you can see their heartbeat. I couldn’t sleep for days because now suddenly she was home without a monitor. I used to put my ear on her chest. I would wake up every couple of minutes just to see if she was OK. For weeks, this went on.”
After being a mother herself, Priyanka Chopra has also understood why her mother Madhu Chopra would ‘rip people’ if they hurt her. She told, “I’ve seen my mom rip people when I’ve been hurt and I just never understood it. I was like, ‘Mom, chill out. What are you doing?’ Now I get it. I would take someone out.”
Priyanka is busy promoting her upcoming spy-thriller series Citadel, which is being produced by the Russo Brothers and stars Richard Madden alongside her.
