Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s latest film “Animal” has sparked controversy, with criticism coming from both fans and prominent figures like lyricist Javed Akhtar. Akhtar labeled the film as ‘dangerous’, particularly denouncing its portrayal of toxic masculinity. In response, Sandeep Vanga has fired back, suggesting that critics should first examine their own surroundings before passing judgment.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Vanga addressed Akhtar’s critique, implying that Akhtar hadn’t actually watched the film in its entirety. He expressed disappointment, emphasizing that it’s evident when someone comments without having fully experienced the work. Vanga went on to question why critics, like Akhtar, don’t scrutinize the content produced by those within their own circles, citing Farhan Akhtar’s “Mirzapur” series as an example. He pointed out the abundance of profanity in the show and even mentioned feeling nauseous while watching the Telugu dubbed version.
