Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s intense Bollywood production, “Animal,” featuring Ranbir Kapoor, has claimed the top spot globally with a staggering $42.1 million in earnings, as reported by ComScore. The film made its debut in 38 international markets, raking in a total worldwide gross that encompasses $6.1 million from North America, where it secured the 7th position across 850 locations. Notably, “Animal” dominated the Indian box office, clinching the No. 1 spot and amassing $28.8 million over the weekend.
In this cinematic spectacle, Ranbir Kapoor portrays the son of India’s wealthiest man, depicted by Anil Kapoor (not related to the “Slumdog Millionaire” star), who confronts an antagonist played by Bobby Deol (“Ashram”). The cast also features Rashmika Mandanna (“Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1”).

Following the thematic thread of Reddy’s earlier works, such as the Telugu “Arjun Reddy” (2017) and its Hindi counterpart “Kabir Singh” (2019), “Animal” delves into the exploration of toxic masculinity. Dennis Harvey, in his Variety review, notes the film’s caricature-like depiction of chest-thumping masculinity, blending elements reminiscent of 007, The Godfather, Hercules, and Leatherface, describing it as a fantasy resembling the personas celebrated by figures in the manosphere, like Andrew Tate.
Securing the second position is Ridley Scott’s action epic “Napoleon,” backed by Apple Original Films and distributed by Sony Pictures. The film, which has now amassed a global Box Office total of $137 million, earned $35.7 million worldwide, with $28.6 million coming from international markets. It continues its expansive run on over 21,500 screens across 63 markets, with South Korea set to release on December 6.
Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” takes the third spot, grossing an estimated $29.4 million globally from 88 territories over the weekend. This brings its international total to $123 million and the global gross to an impressive $244 million.
In the fourth position is “Renaissance,” a concert film curated by Beyoncé, which earned $27.4 million, including $6.4 million internationally and a substantial $21 million in North America, securing its position as the No. 1 title upon its opening. The film is currently screening in 88 territories.
Disney’s “Wish” rounds off the top five, accumulating $26.2 million from 34 territories. This includes $18.8 million internationally and $7.4 million in North America, resulting in a global gross of $81.5 million.
