Superstar Rajinikanth recently delighted fans by sharing a sensational photo featuring himself alongside the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, his co-star in an upcoming yet-to-be-titled film directed by T J Gnanavel, produced by Lyca. The much-anticipated reunion of these two iconic actors has created quite a buzz on social media.
Rajinikanth expressed his excitement in the caption, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s ‘Thalaivar 170’ directed by T J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy.” The photograph of these two megastars instantly went viral, with fans eagerly awaiting their on-screen collaboration.
The camaraderie between Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth dates back to their collaborations in the 1980s, including films like “Andhaa Kaanoon” and “Geraftaar.” A few years later, the dynamic duo once again graced the silver screen in Mukul S Anand’s “Hum” (1991).

Rajinikanth shed light on his 170th film, stating, “I’m doing my 170th film with director Gnanavel and Lyca, which will be a grand entertainer with a significant social message. The movie’s title is yet to be decided.”
Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, maintains a hectic schedule. Currently, he is hosting the 15th season of the popular TV quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati.” He was last seen in “Ganapath” alongside Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. His future projects include the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film “The Intern,” featuring Deepika Padukone. Notably, the late actor Rishi Kapoor was originally set to star in this film. Additionally, Amitabh Bachchan will share the screen with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in Nag Ashwin’s “Kalki 2898 AD.”
