In a recent episode of the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati 15, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan shared a heartwarming story about his early days in the film industry. The iconic actor revealed that when he secured his very first film role in “Saat Hindustani,” his immediate thought was to dedicate all his earnings to his parents. The revelation came during a conversation with a contestant on the show, Vivek, who was eager to hear about Mr. Bachchan’s journey to stardom.
Reminiscing about the pivotal moment when he landed his debut film, Amitabh Bachchan expressed, “Humko ye laga ki isase hume jo bhi milega, wo hum apne ma-babuji ko de dein” (I felt that whatever I earn from this, I should give it to my parents). The audience erupted in applause as he shared this heartfelt sentiment.
The Bollywood superstar continued, “Mujhe ek zariya mil gaya ki apne ma-babuji ko bula kar apne paas rakhein. Jo zimmedari unhone humare liye jeevan bhar kiya hai, us zimmedari ko hum apne kandho par rakh kar aage unke liye kar ke dein” (I found a way to ensure that my parents shift and live with me. The responsibilities that they fulfilled all these years for us, I wanted to shift them to my shoulders and fulfill them going forward).
Amitabh Bachchan’s journey into the world of cinema began when he was seeking employment in Kolkata. He ventured to Bombay after his friend Tinnu Anand recommended him to filmmaker Khwaja Ahmad Abbas, who was in search of fresh faces for his project, “Saat Hindustani.” Amitabh’s father, the renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, played a pivotal role in convincing Abbas to cast his son, assuring him of his support for Amitabh’s dreams.
“Saat Hindustani” marked Amitabh Bachchan’s debut film, released in theaters in 1969. The movie narrated the story of seven Indian revolutionaries who stood against Portuguese rule in Goa, with Amitabh portraying the role of a poet. His exceptional performance earned him his first National Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer.
Despite his continued success in the film industry, Amitabh Bachchan remains active in both his television career, hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati, and his upcoming film projects. Notably, he is set to appear in Nag Ashwin’s “Kalki 2898 AD” alongside Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Hassan, and Dulquer Salmaan in leading roles. Additionally, he will star in Vikas Bahl’s “Ganapath” alongside Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon.
