In a recent interview, Bollywood actress Madhoo spoke about her film journey and the opportunities she had to reject in order to pursue her passion for acting in multiple film industries. Madhoo, who gained popularity with her expressive eyes and child-like smile, revealed that she had to turn down a role in the blockbuster movie ‘Baazigar’, which was eventually played by Shilpa Shetty.
Madhoo stated that during those days, she was very busy working in multiple film industries including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. She said that she never did more than one film at a time and could not take up a Hindi film because she was busy with a Tamil film. Madhoo further added that she has no regrets about rejecting the role in ‘Baazigar’ as she believes that all experiences in life are valuable.
She also shared the story of how she got her name ‘Madhoo’ and the role of a lovely young lady in her neighborhood who played a significant role in naming her. Madhoo, who made her Bollywood debut with the blockbuster movie ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ and impressed everyone with her performance in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Roja’, believes that rejection and sour experiences in life are valuable lessons that help individuals take up challenges and prove themselves. She feels that all experiences in life, both good and bad, are a part of the learning curve.
