Parineeti Chopra took to Instagram to express her gratitude towards writer-director Imtiaz Ali for casting her in the biopic drama “Amar Singh Chamkila,” which premiered on Netflix on April 12.
In her Instagram Stories, Parineeti expressed her joy at finally making an impact with her work in the film, something she had eagerly anticipated for years. She specifically thanked Imtiaz Ali for believing in her talent and giving her the opportunity to portray the character of singer Amarjot Kaur in the movie.
The praise for “Amar Singh Chamkila” extended beyond Parineeti’s performance, with filmmaker Hansal Mehta also lauding the film. Mehta described the film as not just a cinematic experience but an extraordinary one, surpassing Imtiaz Ali’s previous works. He commended the film’s magical, audacious, and multi-dimensional nature, highlighting Diljit Dosanjh’s stellar performance in the titular role. Mehta also recognized Parineeti’s fine performance, noting that it might not receive the attention it deserves.
“Amar Singh Chamkila” chronicles the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar, who rose from poverty to fame in the 1980s through the power of his music but faced opposition that ultimately led to his assassination at the age of 27.
The film has garnered positive reviews, with the Hindustan Times praising its honesty, purity, and outstanding music, likening the experience of watching it to attending a live concert. Released on Netflix, “Amar Singh Chamkila” promises to be a cinematic event worth savoring.
