Sonali Bendre, a renowned Indian actress, is currently serving as one of the judges on India’s Best Dancer 3 alongside Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapur. Reflecting on her career, she fondly recalled working with the late choreographer Saroj Khan during the filming of the song “Chand Aaya Hai” from the 1999 film Dil Hi Dil Mein. Despite not having prior experience with garba, a traditional dance form, Sonali revealed that the song holds a special place in her heart.
Sharing her memories of the shoot, Sonali mentioned that “Chand Aaya Hai” was the first time she performed this dance style, and Saroj Khan was the choreographer for the song. Nervous about working with Khan for the first time, Sonali joked about her fear of Khan throwing dandiya sticks at her if she made any mistakes. Sonali cherished the experience, emphasizing that while Khan was strict, she was an exceptional teacher, and she holds great admiration for her.
The dance reality show India’s Best Dancer 3 recently featured a stunning Garba Act performed by contestant Anjali Mamgai and choreographer Akash Thapa. This act took Sonali on a trip down memory lane, as she reminisced about learning dance moves from Saroj Khan, who passed away. The powerful performance of the song “Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje” sparked Sonali’s reminiscence.
Apart from her role on India’s Best Dancer 3, Sonali also made her debut in the world of web series through ZEE5’s show, Broken News. In the series, she portrayed the character of Amina Qureshi, a journalist. Sonali’s acting career spans several notable films, starting with her debut in the 1994 movie Aag, which featured Govinda, Shilpa Shetty, and Shakti Kapoor. She achieved significant success with the action romance film Diljale in 1996. Sonali has also appeared in movies such as Major Saab, Sarfarosh, Duplicate, Zakhm, Chori Chori, and Hum Saath Saath Hain, among others.
